Best of Beauty 2013

Top 5 Skincare Products:
My favourite skincare products of 2013 won't come as any surprise. I have been using the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser for over two years and it is still my all time favourite cleanser. I don't use the Bioderma Crealine H20 Solution Micellaire everyday but it is something that I love to have in my skincare stash. I use it to remove makeup and occasionally as a quick morning cleanse when I am feeling lazy. My favourite mask is the Ren Invisible Pores Detox Mask, this is my second tube. I use this 1-2 times a week and it helps to keep my skin smooth and clear. The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo has dramatically improved my skin over the last year, I am now on my fifth or sixth tube. Indeed Labs Hydraluron is my morning serum that helps my skin stay hydrated and produce less oil throughout the day, this is my fourth tube.

Top 5 Base Products:
2013 was the year I stopped searching for the perfect foundation and decided to stick with the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. I can't remember if this is my third or fourth tube. I occasionally use the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser alone or mixed with foundation if I want a lighter base. My favourite primer of the year was the Benefit Porefessional primer which is perfect for smoothing out the skin. The Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder is easily the best powder I have ever used and this is my second tub. I found a few amazing concealers in 2013; the MUFE Full Cover Concealer (I need to repurchase this!), the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer.

Top 5 Cheek Products:
The Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes really impressed me in 2013. They are not available in Australia so a nice friend picked these up for me on a trip to New York. My brother is currently in Canada so I might get him to send me some more colours. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl is a lovely subtle highlighter that makes you look like you are naturally glowing rather than being glittery. This is my second Nars Laguna Bronzer and not something I think I will ever be without.

Top 5 Lip Products:
My favourite lip balm for the majority of the year was the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm. I still love it and am now on to my second tub but the Lanolips 101 Ointment managed to steal the top spot. My favourite lipgloss was the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in 02. I have only had the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Boy since November but considering how much I have used already I decided it had earned itself a place in my top five lip products. My other favourite lipstick of the year has actually been discontinued but I had to mention it anyway, it is the Illamasqua lipstick in Drench.

Top 5 Eye Products:
I use the Stila Smudgestick Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in Stingray for my waterline and tightline, it is longest lasting pencil of all that I have tried (Including MAC and Urban Decay). I might try another brand when this runs out as it doesn't quite last all day without smudging. I have gone back to using the MAC Superslick liquid eyeliner in On The Hunt which was the first liquid eyeliner I ever used. The Urban Decay Primer Potion stops eyeshadows creasing and makes the shadows last much longer. For most of the year my most worn eyeshadows were from the Urban Decay Naked Palette but towards the end of the year I started wearing the Burberry Sheer Eyeshadow in Pale Barley almost daily.

Top 5 Bodycare Products:
I will get the most boring product out of the way first, the Rexona Clinical Protection deodorant. I have never tried anything as effective as this, it really surprised me and I have now been using it for about two years. I have declared my love of the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil multiple times on this blog so I will spare you another rave. The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse was a product I discovered through Bella Box and reviewed here. I ran out of my Kiehl's Creme de Corps body lotion months ago but I make sure to get samples every time I buy a Kiehl's product. As soon as I have finished my other body lotions I will buy the pump size of this. Speaking of other Kiehl's products, my favourite hand cream of the year was the Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve.

Top 5 Haircare Products:
The Batiste Dry Shampoo in Medium & Brunette has been my favourite for years. 2013 was the year I discovered Unite Haircare. I started with the Unite Boosta Spray to get volume in my long straight hair. I then purchased the Unite Weekender Shampoo which is a clarifying shampoo to remove any product build up. Later in the year I picked up the Unite Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner which smell amazing! I also have the Unite 7 Seconds Condition but haven't used that enough to be a favourite.

Loccitane's almond shower oil was also one of my 2013 favourites, and I really really really want to try the tarte amazonian blushes. I wish they were more easily accessible here!

    1. I buy mine from Oz Hair Salons but lots of salons seem to be stocking it these days. I haven't found anywhere to buy it online other than strawberrynet.
